Always remember

  • Your bank, the police or the authorities will never ask over the phone for your online banking codes, PIN codes or card details.
  • Scammers rush and frighten you. A real bank always gives you time to think.
  • The number or name on your screen can be spoofed, even if it looks like your bank’s number.
  • Never install an app or allow remote access because a caller asks you to.
  • Never move money to a “safe account”. There is no such thing.

If in doubt

Hang up. Call your bank yourself on the number on the back of your card or on the bank’s own website.

If you already gave details or paid

  1. Call your bank immediately and ask them to block your cards and codes.
  2. Report the crime to the police: poliisi.fi
  3. Tell someone close to you. Being scammed is nothing to be ashamed of.
